This pluggin is what I define as charityware and can be freely distributed. If you find it useful make what you feel as an appropriate donation to your favorite charity. You cannot charge or make any money from this routine by reselling or bundling them with another package/cd/web page without my permission.

1.1 Fixes the names not being saved in the Enviroment Dialog.

To install this routine just copy the files into your 3ds Max plugin directory.

Object Combustion is basically the same as the original Combustion but instead of working with Combustion Apparati it works with any object. This is a CPU intense pluggin is especially with complex meshes so be patient if it seems likes it doing nothing while rendering.

Particle Combustion works the same as the original Combustion. There are certain rules for meshes that you can use.

  1. Meshes have to be closed meshes. So you can't use planes or similiar shape meshes.
  2. The mesh can't have a 2 sided material on it.

Usually you don't want the original object to render which would cover the effect. To solve this you can either hide the object or assign it a wire material with a wire size of 0.

The only new fields are:

Size/Density: The is the density ratio, it is based on distance. Basically the smaller the value the more dense the effect it. It is directly tied to the the Density field. Usually set to the distance across your object.

Trace Back: Determines how far to trace into the object. This value should be largest distance across for your objects. This does not have to be precise just as long as you guess on the larger side.

Seed: Is a random seed to generate a different random noise pattern.

Falloff: is the fall off of the density as the trace distance approaches 0. Values of 1.0 tends to produce soft edges and values less tend to produce harder edges.

Bugs
Seems to be slower in Max2 than Max1.2 not sure why.
